A lot of french drains stop working after a year or two. The pipe clogs with sand, or the water reaches the end of the trench and has nowhere to go, and the puddles come back.
Thorpe builds differently: we figure out where the water can safely leave your yard first, then build the drain to get it there, protected so our sandy soil can't clog it. That's why our drains still work when the big storms come, not just in a light rain.

What does a french drain cost in Wilmington?
It depends on the length of the run, the digging depth, and where the water can discharge. A single downspout run is a different job than a full-yard system on a low lot. We walk the site free and give you a firm number before any work starts, and it won't change mid-job.
Will drainage even work in sandy soil with a high water table?
Yes, and it's usually the right tool for exactly those conditions. Sandy soil lets water into the drain easily, and when the water table is high we design the discharge, and sometimes a sump pump, to move water out instead of asking the ground to absorb it.
Where does the water actually go?
Every drain we build ends at a planned discharge point: open daylight on a downhill run, a pop-up emitter at the lawn's edge, or a dry well where the lot is flat. We confirm the discharge point with you in the proposal, and we never send water onto a neighbor's lot.
How long does installation take, and do I need a permit?
Most installs run 1 to 3 weeks from start to walkthrough, and the lawn over the trench recovers quickly. If the work needs a permit, we pull it in-house as part of the job.
